At present the Executive team is holding talks with various agencies to discuss the most effective road to take to obtain a legal status. WHY? In order for the organization to fully represent the community it must obtain some status for agencies to recognize it. This will go towards accessing any benefits that are available. It is important to have as much input as possible on these matters to build the strongest organization possible. OPTIONS BEING DISCUSSED 1) Nonprofit Organization: allows for wide spread representation on many levels. Requires lots of legal processes and paperwork along with high costs. 2) Non Governmental Organization: Allows for widespread representation on many levels. Requires long legal process involving Attorney Generals Office and high costs. Requires fully developed structure. 3) Cooperative: More of a financial institution. Requires some legal framework and a fully structured organization. Cost is less than both above and process is shorter. 4) Charitable Organization: this is still under investigation. SO far it is another vehicle for representation that may require less legal approval and cost less. *The executive are discussing the various options with the various entities involved. AS Developments occur reports will be made via this forum. WHATS THE NEXT STEP? Investigate the various options more: costs, time of process. This will allow for structured discussions. The structure of the organisation must be ratified. Bylaws and Articles of Association must be decided upion and articulted in writing. Begin process Manage process ( follow up)
