Tribute to Hon. Priest Philip Blyden- E.A.B.I.C. Bahamas Branch.

The E.A.B.I.C True Church of Divine Salvation locally and internationally has lost a giant of a man in the Honorable Priest Blyden. He played an integral role in the formation of our Congress in the Bahamas. Over the past 40 years Jah B, as he was affectionately called, has been a priest, teacher, father, mentor, builder, artist, herbalist, chef and much more to our community. Words such as honesty, humility, protocol, concern for others, love of family, friends, country (Africa), Church and the Rastafari community are only a few of the attributes of the Honorable Priest. In the governmental and statical aspects of the Congress is where the Honorable Priest really let his light shine. He was one of the early members to reside at our Fire Trail Branch thus assisting in the layout, building and registration of the property. He assisted in agitating to the Government of the Bahamas for our fundamental rights in the early 90s on various matters; leaving a legacy for those coming after to follow.

He was also a Pan-African by heart and expressed to our members to put aside petty prejudices and dogma and unify with African people throughout the world. Much can be said but time would not allow so I make my words few. The life of Honorable Priest Blyden is one to be emulated by our members at home and abroad. The legacy he leaves with us is one of unification with African people. The priest once said that "The Bahamas is a bastion of colonialism; but as we maybe the last to know we would be on the forefront of the redemption." Ride on! Ride on in majesty in lowly pomp! Ride on to live, Hon. Priest Blyden!
