Tribute- Jah Benton

"Observe that anyone who dies for his country is a fortunate man, but death takes what it wants, indiscriminately, in peace-time as well as in war. It is better to die with freedom than without it." HIM Emperor Haile Selassie I The Hon. Priest Philip Blyden lived his life for his country (Africa) and his people (African people universally). A true advocate for Pan-African Human Right. He worked until the night before his passing strategizing way to achieve such rights for his people. He was more than a friend to me. He was my teacher, brother, father, uncle, doctor, psychiatrist, and confidant. He live a principled and pragmatic life. Always displaying the appropriate decorum and diplomacy. He touched many lives near and far, nationally and internationally. He was the voice of reason and mentor for thousands. We who were blessed to sit at his feet have been bestowed with knowledge no university could ever teach us and we are truly rich because of it. Hon. Priest Blyden sacrificed and shouldered

the burden for many of us Rastafari today. Without his ceaseless effort and righteous tenacity Rastafari and the Pan-African community in the Bahamas would not have achieved the hallmarks and milestones achieved today. I take comfort in his physical loss, knowing that he was called to the abode of our ancestors to continue his work in the total liberation of African people universally. I am sure I will recognize him when I see him again, whether it be in the worldwind or metaphysical storm. Your Brother, Benton Curry
